Building Progress Report at 113 Faith Lane

The following is a pictorial report on the progress made at the Crystal Coast Habitat building project at 113 Faith Lane in Newport, NC. We hope to update the report weekly with each major building phase including pictures. The regular construction volunteers work at the site every Tuesday and Thursday. Saturdays are also sometimes scheduled work days with different work groups such as the college groups, Marines, and Coast Guard.

Starting with the Foundation.

The following is the Floor System.

The phase involded adding the exterior walls. This was done by the regular volunteers and the Bush Hill Presbyterian Church Youth Group.

The next phase involves the building of the interior walls which was started with the Bush Hill Presbyterian Church Youth Group and is ongoing with the regular volunteers.

OSB wall sheathing has started with the help of volunteers from “Bank of America” and our regular construction volunteers.

Following a request for additional volunteers to team up with our regular volunteers, we have placed trusses over the primary structure.

Working through some very hot days and thanks to our “Hard Core” volunteers, we have just about completed the roof OSB sheathing.

Completed all of the roof OSB sheathing and tar papering.

Irene removed some of the Felt (tar) paper from the roof which volunteers replaced and started adding the shingles.

The front deck and roof trusses have been added.

We have juast about finished the roof. Rainy weather slowed our progress quite a bit. We would have finished but we ran out of three tab shingles for the roof caps, on order now. We also installed all the windows and doors in just a day and half. The front steps and railings have also been added to the front porch.

We have started installing the vinyl siding.

Vinyl siding is progressing, about 70% done.

The vinyl siding is 95% complete except for the front porch and construction started on the pump house.

Completed all the vinyl siding and fascia metal work. Added shutters. Completed pumphouse framing/tar paper and back porch steps/railings.

More to come.
